Out and About: Color Run, Nutcracker, Stax Cookie Bar, and Mamma Mia!

It was a crazy week overall, in addition to it being Thanksgiving week. But boy, it was fun!

Weekend Shenanigans

Saturday started off early with The Color Run in Huntington Beach. I didn’t actually run in “The Happiest 5k on Earth, ” but I did enjoy documenting the happy faces, costumes and colors of the participants.

Right after the Color Run, I headed out to Irvine, where I had organized a blogger/influencer meet and greet with Festival Ballet Theatre company, who were doing a few numbers from “The Nutcracker” ballet. I connected with Stax Cookie Bar, which is located at University Town Center, where the performance was taking place, so the bloggers could write about two interesting things at once — the ballet and Stax Cookie Bar (ice cream sandwiches!)

I am grateful to Jane Gillespie PR for connecting me with Stax Cookie Bar. It was the perfect venue to sugar up some kids (and parents!) before meeting the Sugar Plum Fairy.

There are less calories when you share right? This was Stax’s new ice cream burrito (a thin crepe made of ice cream), which I shared with Kara Noel of Small Things are Big Things blog.

If you are ever in University Town Center in Irvine, get your sugar fix at Stax. Their cookies and ice cream are made fresh daily! I also really enjoy their affogato, that’s espresso with a scoop of ice cream. Yum. When I was there, they were introducing the “ice cream burrito” which is basically a crepe made out of ice cream! You have to try it yourself to experience the yum. Check out their menu and try not to drool staxcookiebar.com

So, this December 10-24, catch Festival Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker at the Irvine Barclay Theater – which is just across University Town Center! With beautiful ballet choreography, colorful costume, that Tchaikovsky score, and international ballet stars as guests, THIS is definitely “The Nutcracker” show to see. Tickets at festivalballet.org/the-nutcracker.

Mamma Mia…here I go again.

If you have a chance to see a show at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, don’t hesitate, just go! Last week, I took a girlfriend to watch “Mamma Mia,” and we had so much fun watching and singing along. Here is the review I wrote for Suburban Mamas.

And just because I can’t get enough of these outrageous 70s-style costumes, here’s a photo from the show (courtesy of Segerstrom Center for the Arts).
