A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the media preview for the 2014 Pageant of the Masters in beautiful Laguna Beach. As we viewed the behind the scenes action – scenery painting, makeup etc. for the famous “living pictures” theatrical production, I kept seeing that Arrested Development Distressed Bluth’s Original Frozen Banana Royal Blue Heather Mens T-shirt (Adult Large)“>”Arrested Development” episode featuring the “Living Classics,” in my head.
The Pageant of the Masters is an 80+ year old Laguna Beach tradition, wherein classic works of art literally come alive! This year’s theme is “The Art Detective,” inspired by television shows like “The History Detectives,” “Connections” and “Sherlock Holmes.” This one begins with great masterpieces including Manet’s Olympia, Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and Botticelli’s Primavera.
During the preview event I attended, we saw how scenes were painted.
And how actors were made up.
The Pageant of the Masters will be held from July 9- August 30, 2014, with performances nightly at 8:30 PM. Tickets range from $15 to $220. For more information, visit pageanttickets.com
But the thing is, the Pageant is not the ONLY reason to visit The Festival of the Arts this summer. The inspiring outdoor glallery will host a series of activities throughout the summer including Art, Jazz, Wine and Chocolate on Thursdays, Jazz on the Green on Saturdays, and the Art of Cooking and Music in the Park on Sundays, as well as art workshops and education days.
Personally, I am looking forward to taking my family to “Family Art Day” on July 19th and the Youth Arts Education Days on Mondays- Fridays through. Art is ALIVE right here in Orange County, CA. I do encourage you all to visit Laguna Beach this summer to enjoy a feast for the senses. The Laguna Festival of Arts is located at 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, CA.
Finally, here’s a little video I made from the Pageant of the Masters, Preview Event.
