How Knott’s Succeeds in Promoting Halloween Event via Social Media

For the last couple of years, I have had the pleasure of attending some of the creepily awesome Halloween haunts in Southern California’s amusement parks. But my favorite event has got to be Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween Haunt. Not only does it have awesome production value, but it is also one of the rare date nights out that my husband and I have and enjoy!

This year, Knott’s Scary Farm has outdone itself with more scares and thrills like 12 mazes, an Elvira show and more. During the fabulous media night we recently attended, we even had a special pass -“The Skeleton Key,” included with all Fright Lane passes (front of line passes), which unlocked secret rooms that gives one access to the mysterious backstories of the following mazes: Black Magic, Gunslinger’s Grave, ENDGAMES: Warriors of the Apocalypse, Dominion of the Dammed, and Uncle Willy’s Slaughter House. As for me and my party, we just had fun riding the Timer Mountain Log Ride sans kids.

Since I often write about social media topics in this space, I want to give props to the social media team behind Knott’s Scary Farm – the Knott’s and Giga Savvy crew.

By having one event hashtag (#scaryfarm), guests to #ScaryFarm could share and relive their experiences via social media consistently. From the media night I attended, to the VIP celebrity young Hollywood night you’ll see in the Storify below, the tweets, instagrams and vines kept coming. By searching the #scaryfarm hashtag, any would-be Scary Farm-goer could not only see what frights awaited them, they could also see the fun that lay ahead.

Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween Haunt will run till November 2nd. Tickets are available online
