• Travel Tuesday: Wellness Weekend At Shore Hotel in Santa Monica

    There is so much I can say about the awesome weekend I had in Santa Monica, CA. I stayed at the LEED Certified, eco-friendly, sustainable Shore Hotel. I got a massage, ate raw, vegan, painted and even did beach yoga. But for now, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.   What a wonderful day! #weather #instaweather #instaweatherpro #sky #outdoors #nature #world #love #followme #follow #beautiful #instagood #fun #cool #like #life #nice #happy #colorful #photooftheday #amazing #santamonica #unitedstates #day #autumn #us #shorewellness A post shared by Marcie Taylor (@marcietaylor) on Oct 12, 2013 at 11:46am PDT

  • Hot Staycation Idea: Palm Springs!

It was one of those spur of the moment trips to escape routine, especially upon realizing summer vacation’s almost over and you haven’t taken a vacation with the family yet. Living in Southern California, we are fortunate that we enjoy an “endless summer” at least weather-wise and can enjoy a “staycation” when we choose. There is something about packing your bags even for just an overnighter and staying in a hotel. So that’s what we did. The choice was between Vegas (reasonable hotel rates) or Palm Springs (shorter drive)and we chose the latter. The drive from Orange County is under 2 hours and as soon as we see the windmills,…

  • Spring Fling at Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott’s Berry Farm is one of my favorite family amusement parks. I love all the Americana, the food choices, rides and a host of other things that truly cater to every member of the family. This spring, Knott’s has made some fun seasonal additions to the park including a new interactive live show at Charleston Circle called “Peanuts Party in the Park,” Big Boardwalk Board games like checkers and Connect Four, a 3-D art show at Silver Bullet Midway, and a nice Wine Tasting (for the grown ups) and Lemonade Tasting (for the kids – yum, try Boysenberry) event at Knott’s Towering Topiary Gardens located in Wilderness Dance Hall. What…

  • Somewhere Beyond the Sea – Carmel-by-the-Sea

The six hour road trip, from Huntington Beach in Orange County to Carmel by the Sea in Monterey County, California takes you down a scenic route. And it can really be a relaxing drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, except when you are traveling with kids in tow. Driving for so many hours with no DVD to keep time can be challenging. Even with their Nintendo DS and iPhone devices, there was always that nagging question of:”Are we there yet?” After taking in the breathtaking coastal views and stopping for lunch at San Luis Obispo, we finally enter Carmel. The first thing that hits you is the scent of pine.…

  • Happy Anniversary SoCo Farmers’ Market!

It’s really cool when you see an idea blossom into an event. Even better, when the event becomes a tradition. Let’s hear it for the latest edition of the Chopped-style (a la the FoodNetwork TV show) Farm to Food Truck Challenge. It seems like only yesterday when the whole gourmet food truck thing was deemed a fad, and the SoCo Farmers’ Market had just opened. But it’s been two years and how the market and the event have grown. Looks like gourmet food trucks are here to stay. Chefs are the new rockstars, in case you didn’t notice. And the Farmers’ Market is the place to go. That is why…

  • Endless Summer at the Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach

Staycation is not my favorite word but it is definitely one of my favorite things to do. Fortunately we live in a place that’s conducive to “staycation-ing.” Living in Huntington Beach, one would think I’d opt for a non-beach getaway but I don’t. Instead, I jump at the chance to experience a beach town apart from my own in Orange County, California. You see, each beach city has its own vibe. Located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, the Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach is the perfect weekend escape. The Joie De Vivre hotel group have done an excellent job transforming what used to be Vacationville into a…
